Publishing with Us

We publish all kinds of books in Kiswahili and English languages with special focus on Kiswahili literature, academic, African History and entrepreneurship books. All publishing is preceded by extensive market research to establish demand of content, specific requirements of the target market and general compliance of the content with national policies, values and the curriculum it is set to address (for academic books). We emphasize on complete publishing whereby the purpose, content and presentation of the material are given equal weight in making any book. To realize the concept of complete publishing, we maintain an editorial that has both authoring and editorial tasks ranging from defining a product and outlining its content to editing and moderating content that has already been authored. The consequence of our commitment to complete publishing means that there is a large tradeoff between time and perfection in making any book. But in the end we have a lot to show for the valuable time spent in making, editing and enriching our books – a remarkable product, a level above the usual.

A standard self-imposed, complete publishing sits on three pillars:

Purpose: Every book is published to address a certain need - be it market-driven, cultural-oriented or literary. we publish a book because we believe that it addresses something of value to our society.

Content: We put our efforts on creating books that are rich in content, simple and elaborate in narration and compliant to teaching standards and scope of target users (for academic books).

Presentation: Beautiful layout has many benefits. Above appealing to the eye, it stimulates readers to love a book and to want to read it. This is particularly important to our readers most of who have a weak reading culture, and so an appealing book helps to stimulate their appetite. We believe that we have to motivate our readers so that they progressively build such a culture through reading. Our books are known for their non-monotonous presentation of text, use of images, charts and illustrations as well as presence of break sections with short notes or narrations that can cultivate the reader’s interest in the subject.
